There is a past discussion in the archives on these gauges. A very knowledgeable member of this group said that they were unreliable and should be upgraded. Has anyone had any recent issues with these? I am about to go into commissioning on a new 410 and want to do the upgrading now if possible. Would you also let me know what to upgrade to. The Acu Gauge was mentioned in the archives.

GUAGES

Ihad a little trouble with them on a 99 450,but I think it was mostly what I did,I did have to change the fuel to seperate "FARIA"guage, but again I think I blew the sensor,if it aint broke dont fix it.

I've never had any trouble with the water tank gauge but the holding tank sending unit has gotten clogged twice by unmentionable things... I've heard good stuff about the Accugage, you can even order it from the site here. Having a sending unit that's external to the tank seems like a pretty good idea.

Definitely go with the AcuGage!

Nothing in the tank to clog up and require periodic removal and cleaning--which is the big objection to the Wema Gauges.

sending tank has a flushing line attachment that allows you to flush the sending unit without removing it with a garden hose if get pluged up...its item # SHF-2 from Wema if your interested.

AcuGage

Most all gauges will work in fresh water, but even in some cases if the water has a lot of minerals gauges will stop working. Most all gauges WILL foul in Waste. The AcuGage does not require ANY care at all. No flushing, no cleaning. Just enjoy your time on your boat and don't worry about it. Dennis Ferriello Snake River Electronics Dennis@snake-river.org

Flushing/cleaning the Wema sender

Human waste contains animal fats...which is what clogs up the sender. When you have to unclog one, pump the tank...fill it with clean fresh water, and add some detergent--Dawn dishwashing liquid is as good anything else--to break down the fats. Added bonus: the detergent cleans the tank too. Don't use too much though...or you'll be blowing bubbles out the vent every time the head is flushed till you've pumped out the tank enough times to rinse out all the detergent!

Mounting Acugage to the holding tank

Thanks for your help. My broker said there might be a problem mounting the acugage strip to the tank. This is based upon being able to reach the appropriate spots. Any comments on this. Again, the boat is a new h410.
