Weight of centerboard

Have an 1983 Islands 17. I recently removed the centerboard since it is very pitied and need refurbishing. It weighs 15.4 lbs. Seems light for a boat that weighs 575 lbs with a mast 23' 3".

YOU are the ballast in that size boat. That is what makes them so fun to sail

Yes. The centerboard just creates lift. You keep her on her feet!
