Daysailor 17 stevensville
My son was recently given a 17' Daysailer and we are in the process of getting it cleaned up and back on the water. The prior owner had replaced the keel but told us it needed some weight added because it wouldn't remain in place. I have access to all the lead I need. I just need to know how much. Can anyone point in the right direction?

Thanks,
John

The specific manufacture name/model number and mfg. date will help as the PO (previous owner) may have skipped another step in the repair.
from: Glen-L.com
"... On centerboards of wood, a common method is to put a weight on the board. This can be a lead weight built right into a hole in the board, or a specially fabricated casting designed to fit the bottom of the board. The weight will pull the board down in position and then a pin arrangement can be used to lock the board in position."

this link may be helpful as you go along from here because with a used boat there are usually either missing or extra parts not previously mentioned. keep us posted on this thread as to outcome of this repair as it will help future searches by others.
