I was interested in getting a 8 hp. Yamaha high thrust weighing in at 107 lbs. is this to heavy? any one else using motor of this weight? O'day 23

I have the honda 9.9 four stroke that weighs in at about the same as your Yamaha. I changed from the original bracket because it seemed alittle flimsy with the new motor. It wasn't so much the weight it ismore the torque. There have been a lot of discussions about motor on the sight. In my case I went to the Garelick 7021 four stroke bracket which is a lot stronger. If you make the change you will need to make a change to mounting holes. It is wider than the original equipment bracket.

Rudy at D&R Marine has some brackets in stock that will take a motor of this size an weight. They aren't Garelick brackets, but they do the job and sell for cheaper money than the Garelick. Give him a call and he can answer any questions that you may have in regards to the need for boring holes and weight ratings of these brackets.
