I have just purchaed a C-30 tall rig 1988 and the Rudder is weaping a small amount of rusty water. Can I just put a small hole in the bottom of same to get it to drain with one at the top to give it flow? Any one tried this? Or do you have a better idea?

There is lots of description of this common problem you should be able to find in the archives. The short answer is you can drain some of the water by drilling at the bottom but the real concern is what damage was done internally. As you see rust, you can presume the welds on the SS webbing and rudder shaft are rusted and therefore weakened. The only way to know how bad it is would be to open up the rudder for an inspection and repair.
