I have a 1987 H28.5. I'm replacing a couple of sections or panels of the teak and holly sole due to rot. When I removed the old panels, I observed holes in the stringers that appear to be placed in order to drain water from the compartments between stringers, into the area BETWEEN the inner and outer hulls (see picture). The holes had been taped over however. The previous owner had been meticulous about everything else and the boat had been professionally maintained by a competent yard whose owner was a close friend of the boat owner. In other words, nothing was ever done sloppily or without cause. So here are my questions. 1)are these drain holes a factory original; 2)if they are, any ideas about why they may have been taped over; 3)or could they have been drilled, a mistake realized, and then taped over? Any ideas?
