Weep Hole Drilling/Mast Collar

Has anybody ever drilled a weep hole in the mast collar? If water migrates down the mast, or is sprayed into the two sheeves at the base of the mast, that liquid is trapped at the base of the mast for weeks. I added a 3 inch section of Pvc pipe in the center for a wire chase to keep moisture out of the hole. Then I wondered, why isn't there a weep hole in that collar. did it

I drilled a 1/4" in the collar on my 33.5. I don't know if it works or not, but I've not had any compression post problems (knock on teak) so I guess it couldn't hurt.

Dealer did mine.

My dealer drilled a pair of 1/4" holes, port and starboard, though the base of my mast and the mast step as part of the commissioning process. Can’t be too harmful.
