Weeds in CB pennant

I'm looking at buying a 17 to 19 foot pocket cruiser, eg Monty 17, Precision 18, Spindrift/Starwind 19, O'day 192, etc. I frequently sail in a weed filled lake. Those with centerboards almost all have exposed pennants. My fear is that I'm surely going to get weeds between the CB and pennant, resulting in much cussing and frustration. What are peoples experiences with this, if any?

In that environment you will also foul the centerboard blade and the rudder. The only chance against fouling would be a full keel and rudder hung off that keel. That is not a boat that can be trailered easily.
I have owned and sailed that type of keelboat and it was the only type that didn't collect crab and lobster pots.
I have sailed Catalina's, Hunters and San Juan trailer sailers (22 to 26 feet) and have moderatly weed fouled them all and the pendant fouling was not great enough to stop the retraction of the centerboard. The water where I sail is too cold to think about cleaning the weeds off and it's never been a problem.
Hope this helps.
