I had one of those for a while. It was noisy as hell and it got hot but it worked okay. I used it on my 8' dingy and it was 2.5 HP. They are air cooled and don't have many working parts.
It is a cheap outboard and it is light. It will work for a while.
Looks pretty "hillbilly" to me. My weed whacker is loud, and spews some blue smoke. I don't think the clutch on the newer ones would be great for trying to get moving in a hurry.
I heard there was a boat in Quantico that used the electric kind. He cut a hole through the bottom one winter to install it and then used it in "stealth mode" during races.
