Hi folks,
I'm sorry about the website no longer being supported but I'm
delighted that Chuck has picked up the newsletter and that this
discussion forum is actively used.
I just updated the website to indicate some of the areas that don't
work well (like Scuttlebutt -- it appears that Microsoft FrontPage
discussion software has some serious flaws) or are discontinued.
And I referred people to this discussion group.
Chuck, I've also referred people to your snail mail address for the
newsletter. Do you have an email address I can use on the website?
If anyone wants to maintain the website, you'll need Microsoft
FrontPage. I will give you the administrative password and then you
can pull the website down to your computer and from there you can
publish it to any host that supports FrontPage extensions.
What do you need to know? I think you need to be good with
computers. Experience with FrontPage is especially helpful, but you
don't need to be a programmer.
Please contact me at vega@... if you're interested.
Once you've established the web site on its new host and you've
become familiar with how to modify it, you can maintain it with
roughly 5-10 hours of work per month. It can idle for months at a
time if you're busy (heck -- I haven't done anything for a year and
it's still one of the best sailboat owner sites on the web).
This is something that gets worldwide attention and is a real source
of pride.
