If anyone is interested, I have a buddy sailing out of Galveston that sent me a link to the race in case you might also have a friend participating. There are 142 boats starting in about an hour or so to sail the 150+ NM trip.

My pal's in the Purple Fleet, boat's named Point of Beginning, spotter ID is PO. They're moving up through the pack pretty well for less than an hour since start. But it looks like those further off shore have fresher breeze.
