Hi,

I am thinking of using the Weaver Transom Mounted Snap Davit to mount my dinghy? I have check the archives. Has anyone used this system? I will be using it only on occasions and I think it would be better than towing? It will be going on a 1978 Hunter 30.

Thanks,
Carl

I have seen it on larger , newer sailboats that have more beam through the stern. I looked at mine and it is a 35.5 which narrows quite a bit and it looked dangerous. If you happened to be heeled over the dingy can catch water or possibly a wave and do some damage. On power boats they usually have a beam equal to the dingy length at the stern so this is not as serious a concern.
The system was going to be expensive and for all I would gain I decided it was not the best idea for me.

Great advice . . . I will have to rethink how to haul the dinghy !
Thanks,
