Other than "marineweather.com", does someone have a good place to look or call for a 4-5 forecast? I sail out of San Diego, but live in Phoenix. So it is sometimes helpful to try to find out what type of weather might be coming when I plan my trips over to Calif.

Weather

If you go to weather.com and put in zip code 92101, you will get the forecast for San Diego's airport. Then ask for the 10 day forecast.

Another one...

The NWS Office for San Diego is pretty good, see link below. Basically you can pretty much plan on 75 degrees, 10-15 knot westerlies, and sunshine this time of year. It's a tough place to live ;.)

wunderground.com (Weather Underground)

Works good for me here on the east coast. Check it out.

Works for me . . . weather, wind, rain, lightning maps for the next 36 hours, plus radar, nexrad, and even loop maps of those for the past 12 hours or so. Jim

All the below plus. . . .

the NDBC(National Data Buoy Center). Check Link below then select buoy with coordinates closest to your sailing location. You get current conditions of wind and waves but you can also click on "Marine Forecast". I compare this with all the sites mentioned previously. Like you I have a long drive to the boat and want to know my odds. It's also fun to pull a weatherfax from a NOAA site and try to predict on your own.

Best weather I've found

is Weather Underground (wunderground.com). I really appreciate their graphs of wind speed and direction, particularly in planning anchoring logistics, and find them to be reasonably accurate.

Chesapeake Bay Weather

Actually, the local Baltimore TV stations do a good job of forecasting upper Bay weather. Additionally, I use MSNBC.com weather connections for areas that I sail. I also use www.harbortides.com for tide predictions for the anchorages I intend to use.

Intellicast

intellicast.com has good two day wind forecasts. Trace to the windcast section. weather.com is the other I use. Both are usually accurate. -Doug
