In hot climates like the Caribbean, how necessary or desirable are weather cloths? I am assuming I will not want them, but rather than assume, I'd rather ask those who KNOW.

We used them on Lyric going down the California coast in the winter and felt they were helpful. Mexico was quite warm when we left but we never bothered taking them down. I don't think it really matters. What we really wished for was a mainsheet to the middle
of the boom. End boom sheeting really gets in the way of a decent bimini. We were desperate for shade under that hot sun. Sometimes we just motored so we could keep the cockpit awning up. We had hoped to keep going but other things got in the way. After two seasons in Mexico we put her on the hard in San Carlos. Had a trailer built and towed her home to Northern California. There is a nice picture of her with Mount Shasta in the background
