that is the weirdest accounting I've ever heard. Is the water particularly cold now?
Apparently he didn't have any fear of getting back to solid ground, so something "else" happened to him... I imagine swimming was a strong point for him.. Perhaps heart attack or the like? Very odd indeed.
Weird undercurrent?

Water temp in the Hudson is probably around 65F right now... Waiting for the autopsy. Talking with friends tonight we suspect heart attack. But again -- a life jacket would have helped in that case.

I'll keep you posted when I find out more.

Well I've often said that if I had to go, going while "sailing it like I stole it," would be OK with me.

Very tragic indeed.

Dag on, my boys were born in Kingston and I raced two races with that club (if it was the same club back in 1984) crewing for one of two Sea Pearl 21's. I don't remember the barge though - darn shame.
