I've observed that a small amount of applied reverse throttle
produces a very healthy thrust in reverse. However, the same amout
of forward throttle doesn't seem to produce much of anything. I have
to give it a lot of forward throttle to get the boat moving. Is this
to be expected? Once I lean on the throttle, she gets up to speed
quick, but there doesn't seem to be much control between no thrust to
about half thrust.
So far, I've attempted to leave and enter my slip twice. Because of
the weak forward thrust at lower throttle, I can't get the boat to
turn sharp enough to get into the slip without entering, with what I
consider, too much speed. I have had to back in my slip. I find
that by throwing the boat in reverse, torque is generated to move the
aft end of the boat to the left. I am able to rotate the boat 90
degrees by toggling the throttle between a little reverse throttle,
then a big forward throttle to cancel reverse motion. Then I'm able
to back it in.
Is this "normal" Vega behaviour? Or does my system need adjustment?
Thanks,
Chris
