We are doing some cosmetic work to our MacGregor and would like to replace our MacGregor decal toward the back of the boat. Can someone steer us in the right direction to find a new one? Thanks!

Thank You Tim

I did some websearching and found that Blue Water Yachts has a bow roller made for the 26x, which includes hardware and is $40 less than Havencraft.. AND the folks at BWY are really terrific. I placed my order AND got a mainsail cover too also made for the 26X with the MacGregor Log right on it. Sorry to hog your initial inquiry about decals Bobby, but I suggest giving BWY a try. They have Mac Parts too. Their number is 800-688-8626. And you get to talk with someone who really knows the Mac Boats!

Who's at the Helm?

I tried ordering parts from http://www.macgregorparts.com and found no response. Their website took my credit card info - but no reply in over two weeks. Caveat Emptor?

Wonder What Macgregor Might Think

Bryan, I truly do hope your story eventually has a good ending. I understand that Havencraft was very successfully owned by a couple who retired in the last year (give or take) and reportedly they were really nice people who were very helpful and diligent. Evidently, they wound up selling the business to a fellow who may not be committing full time to it. Currently there is no reason to belive there is anything nafarious going on, but the new owner, according to current scuttlebut, may have other interests along with Havencraft. My best guess is that best case for you is you will get your order eventually, worst case, nothing will happen (no delivery and no charge on credit card). I managed to get a phone call through to Havencraft and an answering machine two days ago (Wednesday) and spelled out what I wanted to order but have gotten no reply yet. Meanwhile, Blue Water Yachts seems to be the current best outlet I could find for Mac parts. I would bet they have the MacGregor decals too. Wondering how Roger Macgregor feels about a parts outfit essentially using his name online, insinuating a connection with The MacGregor Yacht Corporation and which outfit seems to be in a coma. I sincerely wish whatever is going on at Havencraft gets resolved and that all of this is simply a glitch. I do wish them well, but the patient seems pretty sick right now. I'd be very cautious.

Thanks, John

I dealt with Havencraft about 6 years ago when I had my boat in Wilmington,NC, and they were prompt and courteous - if a bit pricey. I'm not worried about the credit card business I was just surprised by the active web site and inactive business. Do you have a web site for Blue Water? Thanks!

Blue Water Contact Info

My pleasure Bryan. As a newbie to the business of sailing anything larger than a Sunfish and Hobie Cat, I am very excited about the my new Mac26X, but I find I am a taker of information more now than a giver of information. So it's nice to be able to give something back. Anyway, here is contact info for Blue Water: 800-688-8626 and http://www.bwyachts.com/catalog.htm Their MAC parts catalog is not on line yet, but the accessories are. I would suggest just giving them a call if there is something you want. (Honestly, I do not work for BWY, nor do I have any affiliation whatsoever, but I can tell you that, in my humble opinion, I belive customer service these days is, in general, non-existent, so when, as a consumer, I find a place that seems to walk the talk, I enthusiastically share that discovery with others).

hmm. bwyachts.com is down?

I tried to get on bwyachts.com, and even used Google (just in case your url was wrong -- it wasn't) and got the "the page cannot be displayed" message. Maybe they are having problems. Harry

Who's at the helm?

I made the mistake of ordering a mainsail cover from Macgregorparts.com and in two weeks have heard nothing. I have also emailed them, called and left voice mail messages to check my order, but have heard nothing in return. I would suggest to everyone to NOT use their web site until they get their act together.
