The wrath of an ashamed little sailboat......
Frank, here is a true story that may have some bearing on your own plans. In 1994 we met a young skipper in Hilo, Hawaii whose gorgeous 23 ft sailboat had tied up next to "Rivendel II". He told us he had just finished a single-handed crossing from the US mainland, sailing downwind in the Trades, as the first leg of a planned circumnavigation. However, he had now abandoned his dream and was looking for a buyer. Not only had he failed to round up any companions -- preferably female -- for any of the legs (they always appeared to find an excuse not to come on board as soon as they saw his boat) but he had also been totally worn out by the downwind passage as his cute little vessel had been yawing (i.e. wiggling her butt) 24 hours per day and he had found no other place to get a bit of sleep than on the floor of the main cabin, close to the mast support. While patting him on the back and telling him how much I sympathized I took another long hard look at the little vessel to see what could possibly be wrong with her. Again, I could only marvel at her gorgeous lines, her impeccable varnish, her new sails, her shiny bright hull and topsides and the elegantly handpainted name on her cute little but: "Blow Me".I guess, he got what he asked for. Can only imagine what might have happened if he had named her "wet dream" (or any variation thereof).See yah out there one day!Flying DutchmanP.S.You might also want to do some research on the fate of another Frank; the skipper of the 32 ft sailing vessel "Alone" (some 40 years ago).
