We have a name for our boat! "SNOW BOUND" The frekin' thing is stuck 100 miles Boise side of Pendleton. Thanks to all for the great ideas for heat and radar. Frank P.S. The real name is going to be "SHAMELESS WET DREAM" home port St.Helens, Oregon

"Frekin thing"? She might not like to hear that!

I have a funny feeling about the way you talk about your boat. The name does not help either. If you're not going to give her any respect, how do you expect her to take care of you when the chips are down? Better stay snowbound for awhile and try to make up before you put her in the water. Perhaps throw a nice Xmas party for her, or something like that. Read "the boat that would not float" for more insights and ideas or perhaps get some counseling together.....:)) Flying Dutchman

Sorry

I was reminded that I should clear this up.... I wrote this inpart, because of humor and inpart, due to frustration of my new baby being late. The name stays there are reasons for this. And she understands.

The wrath of an ashamed little sailboat......

Frank, here is a true story that may have some bearing on your own plans. In 1994 we met a young skipper in Hilo, Hawaii whose gorgeous 23 ft sailboat had tied up next to "Rivendel II". He told us he had just finished a single-handed crossing from the US mainland, sailing downwind in the Trades, as the first leg of a planned circumnavigation. However, he had now abandoned his dream and was looking for a buyer. Not only had he failed to round up any companions -- preferably female -- for any of the legs (they always appeared to find an excuse not to come on board as soon as they saw his boat) but he had also been totally worn out by the downwind passage as his cute little vessel had been yawing (i.e. wiggling her butt) 24 hours per day and he had found no other place to get a bit of sleep than on the floor of the main cabin, close to the mast support. While patting him on the back and telling him how much I sympathized I took another long hard look at the little vessel to see what could possibly be wrong with her. Again, I could only marvel at her gorgeous lines, her impeccable varnish, her new sails, her shiny bright hull and topsides and the elegantly handpainted name on her cute little but: "Blow Me". I guess, he got what he asked for. Can only imagine what might have happened if he had named her "wet dream" (or any variation thereof). See yah out there one day! Flying Dutchman P.S. You might also want to do some research on the fate of another Frank; the skipper of the 32 ft sailing vessel "Alone" (some 40 years ago). FD

..and you want to advertise this?

When you use your VHF will you be embarrassed to call out your vessels name as proper VHF protocol requires. Of course, if you would paint this on your stern you probably don't care about proper anything.

You all are right

My wife and I(with help from you all) are going to think long and hard on the name. We have been thinking on Keejalee(my wifes mothers true Korean name) and my mothers a mix of the two KeejaKathylee. After all no mother would let anything bad happen to her children. We are out of ideas as my wife and I are real smart#$$%#'s by nature, we just wanted some humor on our boat. we saw no harm in that until now. No bad feelings were ever intended. please forgive us! Don't worry about what these guys think

but do worry about anyone trying to understand the name of your boat (can be a life and death situation). We had a friend that had a boat call the "el Oro Oso" (the golden bear). When you try to make the Coastie or sheriff understand this they did not have a clue (we tried). Well they have a new boat call "Puma Feroz" (not any better). Good luck witht the name. Sailing in North Powder

Frank, I hear that the sailing in North Powder or La Grande is great this time of year. I'll see you at the Walla Walla Yacht Club this summer on my American.

Name more suitable for a "stinkpot"

Any sailboat is deserving of a better name than "Shameless Wet Dream "..... How lacking in taste ! Sounds like a name chosen by a "power-boater"("stink pot" is a sailing term for the previous type of boat) with a less than secure "male identity".
