Waxing Question

This may be a stupid question but I am planning on waxing my 85 H28.5 this weekend and am wondering if it is wise to wax the non-skid portion of the deck, and if not what should be used ? Thanks in advance, Don P. Ruskin Fl.

Non-skid

Do not wax the non-skid with regular wax. There is a product made by Aurora and available at Boaters World which is specifcaly made for this purpose. This is th eonly product that I have heard of that is in production for non-skids. I am sure others will let you know if there are others out there.

I disagree

It's okay to wax the non-skid, as long you realize it will be a little slippery (but not that much). It's also harder to wax because of the grid, but the shine becomes consistent with the rest of the boat. I do it, and no one has slipped as a result. But everyone likes the look.

Wax it !!!

You still need the UV protection. We wax ours with the same wax as the main areas and everything is fine. That area will chip if not protected.

You can wax non-skid

I have used the Aurora process and it works well, there is a 2 step pre-cleaning before the wax.It takes time but you don,t slip on the deck.Not a high shine but gives good protection.
