Although I am aware of the basics of modern watermakers, I am at a loss to understand why watermakers are so expensive. Is there a critical component or material that is in short supply? The $2,000 to $5,000 is simply beyond the reach of most prospective cruisers. Yet, for smaller vessels with limited tankage and storage, a small watermaker could be just the ticket for breaking free of one of the last real cruising concerns. Any thoughts on this? Do you ever plan to offer a small and perhaps less cutting edge for unit for the rest of us? Has anyone considered rental program?s/v Parrot Tales, Beneteau 321
