Water is collecting under the settes and when I heel over water runs across the cabin sole. Where is it coming from? There are only few thru hulls on this boat and as far as I can tell they are secure. Could it be coming from the rudder post? I pump it dry at the slip and don't take on any more unless I am heeled over. The thru hull transducers are under the bow and are not leaking. It's a mystery to me!

Although I don't know

the details on the 26.5, as I sail a 23, have you checked: sink drain? MSD? hull-deck join (if you are heeled to the rail)? cockpit drain hose(s)? fresh water tank? (taste the water...sweet or salt) Good luck and report back!!

Chalk

Found a similar leak on my 31 using this method.....go to hardware store and buy a container of the colored chaulk that carpenters use for their string lines, dump a little around area you suspect, leaks show up quite will when this chalk runs, be systematic, test one area at a time. My leak was the thru hull for head discharge.

Pan bilges

I have long gotten over the frustration of sponge pumping and wipe down duty after sailing in a fresh breeze in my boat. Any water that collects in a boat with a pan bilge be it from melted ice or a dripping stuffing box will end up sloshing around and migrating into the lockers under the setee's. When the bilge pump cycles you can bet that some of the water is not going to get discharged before the pump turns itself off. Add to that the water returning back down the discharge hose and going back from where it came. I tried a check valve but it was such a restriction I took it back out. You can open the limber holes in the lockers and increase the size of the limber holes in the bilge to make them more efficient but the problem stems from not having a "well" that all water in the boat freely flows to and the pump can empty low enough so that the water in the discharge won't migrate through the boat.

Been there

I had same problem on a h25. Was the sink drain thru hull connection. Had double clamps but were not positioned properly so when heeled it leaked.

MSD = Multiple Spark Discharge.

Oops this is a sailing forum. *sry MSD= (some sort of Coast Guard) Sanitation Device. I forget the exact acronym.

Its amazing how through the hull transducers

will not leak at the slip but heel the boat over and get going at 5 or 6 knots and all of a sudden they start leaking. The most probable place is by where the bilge pump hose exits the bilge and enters the sette. Put some sealer there so that when heeled water will not enter the sette. If you have water running on your sole you either does not have a bilge pump, is not installed properly or does not work. You should have the means of draining that bilge when underway.
