Water trapped under floor?

My project-boat, a 1975 22' Venture, has been stored for several years (I bought it a year ago). It wasn't covered properly (hatch cover is gone; good advice in this forum for replacing it though!) and water was allowed to collect and sit in the cabin--both in the main aisle-way and in the compartments. The water has been gone for weeks, but I've noticed a squishing noise under the floor when I walk along the main aisle of the cabin. The boat is now covered properly and is still out of the water, so this can't be from a leak in the hull. Is it possible that water is trapped in the fiberglass layers (since the compartments are not gel-coated)? Has anyone heard of this who knows of a remedy? Many thanks!
