In my home, I just built a new kitchen and added a lot of modern features. I installed the moen no touch faucet (called motionsense) that uses sensors (much like you find on urinals or airport faucets. There are two. When you stick a bowl or glass under it, the water comes on, or you can wave above it and it will stay on until you wave again. This comes in handy to wash your hands where you have soap or dirt. Rinsing fruit, and other small tasks is great.
On the control module you set the automatic water temp you want whenever using the sensors. Frankly to fill a water glass or the dog bowl, or the coffee pot, this is great. If you want hotter or cooler water, you need to use the handle. This is all done with a battery pack that takes I think 8 AA. It's been in 6-7 months and I haven't changed them yet.
I wouldn't pay retail for it though. It is a pricey set up. I do miss it when I am doing something in another sink at work or at a relatives home. I bought it on eBay, new in box for far less than 1/2 what HD wanted.
On the boat? Not mine but I could see someone who really spent time in the galley enjoying this. Has the sprayer built in. Simple DIY job too.
