We bought our vessel used. After a day of sailing or filling the tanks the water comes out of the faucets a light brown color. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to scrub the tanks clean before we sail for the Caribbean this fall?

bleach

open up the inspection ports and have a good look. You might be able to reach in and scrub, you might be able to get a power washer nozzle in the tank. It might also be the lines. Flush with bleach and water until clear. For the lines you might have to leave the solution in for a day. I take it the water you are putting in is good water. I have been in some places where the water is brown to begin with. :)

I had to replace the accumulator tank to solve the rusty water problem. The accumulator was deteriorating inside and flushing it did not help. In the end I removed the accumulator all together and installed a new variable speed pump which does not need the accumulator tank. Now we get clean water.
