Water Tanks

I WIll be installing a freshwater tank in the bow under the V-birth. Any suggestions on where best to install a through-the-deck fitting for filling the tank so as to not damage structural members or wires to bow running lights??? I do not see any good placement that will not be somewhat unsightly in the interiosr---any suggestions???

Depending on where your head is,

I'd put the holding tank in the bow and put the water tank somehwhere else. (For the reasons, read the article on Odor Control in Holding Tanks in the head Mistress forum reference library.)However, that might not work if it means the discharge hose from the toilet into the tank has to be longer than 10'...and 6' is better. Whichevr tank ends up in the bow, unless you can run both the fill hose and the vent line forward and come up to the deck inside the chain locker, you're prob'ly looking at a good bit of major surgery to hide them.

h26 water tank under v berth

I thought I had read a comment on someone who had done this but have not found it. I checked with Hunter Marine if this was feasible. Their reply was very basic: No. But it seems to me that it would not be impossible. I'd like to hear from someone who knows more about such alterations. Otherwise, I'll probably just carry gallon jugs of water under the v berth.

I think a flex type bladder of +-15 to 20+ gallons would work well under the v- berth. They normally require strong attchment points, easy in this area. The fill line is the issue. Never have done it, but I see two or three choices. 1)Hose would have to come up behind the curtins and through the deck. (ugly). 2) Hose would have to be painfully routed into the bow and up into the anchor locker (a lot of foam scraping) 3) Route a fill hose from the bladder around under the seats, under the galley, then down under the rear berth sole and out into the space near the battery, then up and out through the aft to a good fill location. (draw back, always will have water trapped in the fill line due to the routing elevation.) My 2 cents worth, sounds like I should give it a try, we have a 12 gallon blatter under the galley sink with presurized water to both sinks and a aft shower.. I would like to move it forward and increrase the size!Steve

The 260 has a 30 gal rigid plastic water tank under the v-berth. A wood platform is mounted and the tank is attached to that with straps.Depending on how different the 2 boats are, it may work there on a 26.
