I need to replace the selector valve that isolates the port/aft water tanks on my 1984 H34. Been searching the web for a replacement, with no success. Any ideas ? TIA.

Two Ball valves

On my 84 34, I replaced the original 3-way valve (which was terrible to use) with two on/off 1/2 inch ball valves (with mounting feet) and a bronze or brass "tee" connector to join them up with the pipe going to the water pump. I can select a tank by turning its valve on and the other off. Additionally I can turn both valves to the on position and let the aft tank drain into the forward tank. Better for boat balance with the weight moved towards the center and lower down in the boat.

manifold

I made a manifold using 1/2 in. pvc fittings from the local hardware store. With two pvc ball valves, into a "T" with hose barbs. The H37C has port/stbd tanks and the valve is screwed to a bulkhead in the bilge. RS

My Method

Go to any RV store and buy a kit to bypass a hot water heater for winterizing campers. The kit includes a 3 way valve that matches the factory H34 plumping. It's much better (and inexpensive cause it ain't marine) than the original hardware and has worked for me the last 4 years. Barry

....a few more questions, please.....

I installed a hose-type 3-way valve yesterday, it works, but I am not happy with my handiwork. Will try again. Like the manifold idea, also the rv idea. My questions: What is the brand name/manufacturer name of the grey pvc water lines and connectors used on the '84 H34 series? Is this stuff still available? Under what name? Is this the same stuff Ace Hardware sells in its bins? Also have a "spooky" problem-hot and cold H2O in vanity, shower, cold only at sink in galley. Faucet disassembled and appears ok. Good hot water pressure at junction 1 foot below faucet. I am completely stumped. Also, pump appears to run quite frequently, and after each run, I hear a diminishing whistle. At night it is quite absurd. Hope some of you are seeing the sun-WNY's worst May in memory. I hate spring because sometimes it will statistically do this.

Gray pipe and fittings

avaiable at Home Depot. As to faucets they are cheaper to replace.

Standard Garden Hose Y With Twin Shut-off Valves

Just a plastic garden hose y with twin shut-off valves has worked fine for many years now on my H34. About 5 bucks at any home store.
