The metal fresh water tank in my 1978 Hunter 27 which is located in the front berth has one or more cracks. The boat yard here suggests placing a bladder inside the tank rather than going the more expensive route of removing the tank and installing a new one. What our your thoughts on installing a rubber bladder inside of the existing tank, or what is my best options? If I go the bladder route how expensive would it be?

I would be concerned that the cracks in the metal would harm the rubber bladder over time. Kinda depends on the cracks though. Bladders are certainly a way to go.
If you have access to the whole tank then I'd recommend:
drilling a small hole at each end of the crack to stop it from getting larger and then soldering it to seal the tank.

Have a bucket of water on hand prior to starting to put out any booboos with the propane torch.

In this connection can anyone suggest where to purchase a bladder for a water tank? I have a similar issue on my 87 28.5
