I have a 86' 25.5 and the water tank plastic lid seal has broken loose. What sealant should I use to re-seal the clear plastic lid?

Silicone...

Just make sure it's the right silicone sealant for plastic. This doesn't sound like a factory original water tank...

it is original

It is the original tank. It is molded in with a clear plastic lid.

You may want to consider using the RTV

made for aquariums (sp?). Normal RTV cures and releases acetic acid (that particular smell like vinnegar) that can contaminate you water (not a large amount, but it is there). The stuff made for fish tanks has a different curing mechanism and does not release acetic acid. Also be carefull not to have too much flat surface area glued together. It can make removing the lid very difficult later on...

Aha...an integral tank. In THAT case...

Consider making a rubber gasket instead of using any sealant and securing the lid with screws. 'Twould make it easy to remove the lid when you want to scrub the tank.

Thanks Peggy...

The rubber gasket sounds like a better idea. I appreciate everyone's help. Thanks
