I just noticed that my bilge pump comes on when I put water in the water tank for the sink. All along I thought it was the centerboard. The tank had been empty for a few months and no pumping from the bilge. So I guess I can assume its the tank. How do I get to the tank? Any ideas Thanks for the help. Jim

Water tank access

If you crawl to the back of the starbord birth you can get in the back and get to it. I am not sure if you could get it out though. Might be able to chack it out though.

Don't bother

there's plenty of room in the boat for another tank. I suppose if you want to you can crawl under where the battery is and sawzall the thing. Personally I just use bottled water and a 5 gallon potable water jug. If preasureized water is what your after you can run the pump line into the 5 gallon container. Also under the starbord berth, the forward compartment is a good place for a water bladder.

Tank Help

Jim, I had the same problem in my '84 H-22. my tank is located under and behind the sink. (behind my battery as well) The lower (outlet) fitting on my boat had been broken off before I bought the boat. (Second Wind) Because the tank is built in (wood and fiberglass), and had no interior access, I bought a waterproof access plate and installed it close to the top of the tank, but low enough to enable me to reach the inside of the offending fitting. I did my repair after having cut the hole but before insalling the access plate. I used marine sealant on the flange and nothing on the threads. It sealed great and I can carry a full tank of water without leaks. While I was in there I cleaned the inside of the tank - an added bonus. Let me know if this helped adamsfamilyjr.1@netzero.net good luck, Jim A

Thanks, Jim

That sounds like a great idea. I'm going to climb back there and have a look. Make sure that it is the fitting before I perform major surgery on her. Jim
