I have a Hunter 30 - 1978 and would like to know if any of you have installed a gauge to monitor their water tank level? I've checked the BoatUS & West Marine catalogs, no luck. If anyone has any info it would be appreciated. Thanks Bob

Snake River AcuGage

For about $150, you can install a system that can handle up to 4 tanks--diesel, water, and waste. See it at http://www.snake-river.org The online chandlery here sells 'em...it's also the system that Hunter now uses.

Determine if your tank is metal...

if it is, you'll have to use a mechanical sender with a float. BTW, Bob, check out www.lmhsa.org for the Lake Michigan Hunter Sailing Association site and details of the July 25 rendezvous at the Chicago Yacht Club (your harbor!) Ned and Tani Strain s/v Family Therapy 1995 h336 Chicago (Montrose)

Not true...AcuGage has senders for metal tanks

They do go inside the tank, but they're the same type as the external sender...just encased in a PVC tube, so it never comes in contact the tank contents and never can clog or corrode. The diesel sender is also an internal sender inside a PVC tube, btw. Both have to be special ordered from Snake River because the sender has to be made for the depth of the tank. And both internal and external senders can be combined in the same system. Check it out on the Snake River site at http://www.snake-river.org.

Good to know about Snake River's metal tank senders. Sounds like they're cleverly designed, too.
