Has anyone come up with a simple way to gauge the amount of water left
in the bow water tank? My usual indication of low water level is when
the pump starts spitting air :-(

I've tried shining a light on the tank side where it's visible in the
forward locker, but to no avail.

In one of Sidney Rosen's newsletters a contributor had suggested
putting in a "T" connector in the line from the tank to the galley.
The connector was located in the area of the head compartment and a
clear plastic hose, open at the top, was secured to the bulkhead
there. This acted as a sight gauge. There must have been a valve on
the sight tube to prevent it from spilling, though I don't recall the
details. Open the valve and you should be able to see the level of
water in the tank.
