Here is an inexpensive hose attachment to make filling my (4) tanks easier. I got tired of having the nozzle come out, etc. This is just a foot of 3/8 clear hose, a female hose repair end and a shut off. Takes five minutes to make and it is much less fuss to fill the tank. Just stick the hose as far down as it will go and the hose stays put. It is a bit more sanitary too when using public dock hoses.

Oh...THAT explains why

you'd rather spend $500 to keep a $100 toilet working and spend $150 bucks to expoxy a tank several times that you could have replaced for $125. :) It's not about the cost...you need to have things to do!

Been doing that for a few years...

...Only I use a new supply hose from a washing machine. I just cut it to about 18" and can leave it unattended. I also added the shutoff valve I bought at any deptartment store. But yours looks much more "antiseptic" than mine. I like the looks of yours better. Hey!...and I'm not retired.

What do you mean too much free time?

I think this is a great idea. I am going to make one this weekend. It is such a simple thing to make. It is a real pain in the butt to hold the hose nozzle on the fill valve, especially if you have an empty tank. Also, I am leery about what the previous person has used that hose for, so I wash the nozzle thoroughly before I use it to fill my water tank. Thanks for the tip, Rick.

I use the female end of an old hose

and a couple of feet of that hose. Carry it with me to attach to public dock hoses, etc.

All of my old hoses are pretty grody

And if I bought a new hose, It will cost more. Plus all of my old washing machine hoses are already in use around the yard. Also, a clear water hose is just nice! and cheap to make. My guess is about $2-3 max.

Great item, Rick!

I have one almost like it that I have used for years too! I wish I could take credit for being original but a RV friend of mine had one and I just copied.

Here Is Another Option

Though not as much fun as building your own. I think I have seen then at K-Mart in the RV section. Look in the archives for: Water or Ballast Tank Filler Thingie Tried to link to the archives but it will not work.

Peggie, you hit the nail on the head.

Peggie: I am not sure that Rick is done with that head and tank yet. It is more like mission impossible. If someone says that those toilets are junk, he must may try to prove us wrong. Now as far as his new do-wanger goes, I have purchased a water filter that fits on the end of the hose. While I must admit, that my filter cost about $25 it has a hose that keep the nozzle in the tank and also filters the water too. WOW, what a novel device!!! <g>

Now someone come up with a wine dispensor,

you know, for boxed wine. Same idea. I've wanted to buy those big boxes like they used to sell at Costco and set it in the cocpit locker. Then run it to a hose that circulates in the refer to chill the wine. Then have a tap outside the refer so as to avoid opening the lid. Ah, wine, one of the better uses for water. :)

Chill before opening

I usually chill the box before I open it and it is empty before it really has a chance to loose the chill... the boxes only hold about 2 gallons! Dang, what are you doing? Sipping?
