I have an aluminum water tank on my 1989 Hunter 30 that is located in the v-berth. I would like to install an access port in the tank to be used for inspecting and cleaning out the tank. Does the aluminum tank have baffels in it? IF so, how are they arranged and would they interfere with cleaning access? Has anyone done this to their fresh water tank? If so, please advise. DBS

There's an easier way...

Although it's always a good idea to have access to the inside of water and holding tanks, unless you suspect corrosion there's an easier way to clean out the system than scrubbing out the tank by hand. It's described in the article "Fresh Water Maintenance" in the reference library in the Head Mistress forum. We recommend it be done at least once a year. To my knowledge there are no baffles in your water tank, btw.

Baffel in 50 gal. tank

The fifty gallon tank on the 33's does have a baffel. I cut two inspection ports in the top of the tank, one on each side of the baffel. I located the baffel by tapping on the top of the tank. The 20 year old tank was discusting inside. The upper foot or so was black. The rest of the tank was caked in lyme deposits. It was a job cleaning it out. I never drink the tank water but it's nice to know it is a clean tank. I still do the bleach treatment to clean the water lines once a year.
