Hi I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction. I just bought a 1976 oday 25 and it appears to be in great condition. I am trying to get water into the reservoir so the taps will work and i notice the reservoir under the cockpit which is rather difficult to get at. First of all, is this where you fill the tank or is there a more convenient access point on the surface of the boat. The screw top on the reservoir appears to be an alan key configuration. If this is where you fill it the key is long gone but am i right in assuming it is 3/4 inch alan key?
Secondly do a use a separate battery for the cabin lighting - if so what kind of battery should i be looking for.

thanks for any information

Found out the particulars through trial and error - the alan key screw top to the water reservoir is actually 11/16" and is located under the cockpit - i had to make my own tool out of plastic to get it open.
The 9.9 motor i have has an alternator so that the same battery can be used for cabin.

Re: answers reservoir

I just bought a 1976 Oday 25 last month and I was just wondering the same thing. I am wondering how you are supposed to fill it if it is under the cockpit. Did you confirm that this is in fact the water tank for both sinks.

Have you gotten into the electrical systme yet for any reason. I think I need to replace the distribution panels becasue they are in poor condition. I have only had the oppurtunity to run the electric off of shore power so I am not sure the condition of the 12V system.

I have never owner a sailboat so this uncharter territory and I am looking for help and guidance from anyone who is willing to offer.

I have some info on the boat if you need something I can see if I have it.
