I had a clogged water filter that was so full of mold (yuck) that my water pressure really dropped. Even after I cleaned the filter, I still had bad pressure. Do I need to replace the water pump also? Could it be clogged? Could the water lines had clogs in them?

If the water flow did not change it seems that the dirty filter was not the problem. Keep looking.

Hi Bob, our forward tank seems to develop a....
gummy substance that over time will block potable water flow. I suspect this substance is caused from the chemical reaction between the chlorine in the city water and the aluminum tank material. What I do is disconnect the spigot from the tank and remove this material maybe every six months or so and everything works fine after that until several months later. At the same time I also clean the inline filter that is designed to protect the pump impeller from smaller debris that comes from the tank. This stuff is more calcified and tends to clog the filter screen. No big deal. The really small stuff that passes the pump screen is picked up by the screen on the sink faucet, which also needs to be cleaned. Terry

Same problem - Once!
I had a similar problem a couple of years ago. What I did was remove the metal screen filter, which was clogged with brown algae, Washed, rinsed and replaced the filter in the line (after cleaning). I treated the water w/ chlorine and ran it through (4 oz per 70 gals). Everything has been fine since and my water pressure returned to normal. Since the boat is a 1988, I bought a spare pump and keep it aboard - just in case! But, haven't had to use it yet.

Bob if the filter is downstream
from the pump, take the filter element out and see if your pressure is sufficient, if OK then replace ( not just clean)the filter. Also, remove the "out" hose from the pump and see what pressure/volume you get, them go from there.
