Hello, Bought this water pump rebuilt kit for my 3gm30f yanmar a year back and just recently started the rebuilt project. I don't have instructions or diagrams in the box it came in, but it looked pretty straight forward. Everything came apart easily even the bearings and also putting it all back together with the new parts looks easy. The only problem I'm having is putting the new seal in it's housing. The hole it goes into is about 2/3 the diameter of the seal, with a lip in front and back of the hole!... The seal itself is very rigid and to hard to compress, distort or bend (all above not a good ideal for the seal itself} to force it in it's home. The bad seal and leak is why this project had to be done... Any sugestions will be appreciated. If not the pro shop it goes! Thanks!...

Wrong seal.

These rebuild kits are notorious for having parts that do not fit. Probably has to do with there being so many model numbers. It is probably an older Jabsco model. You just need to talk with a rep where you purchased the kit. He/She will probably know what you need. Over time you will have a list and know all the correct part numbers. Handy for buying spares.

Correct Seal

I compared the old seal with the new one and they look identical, although the old one was rather beat-up during removal. I have also looked at web-sites that sold parts for yanmar and they gave the same part #. The 3gm30f is in a 91 legend 355...

Hi AQ, I rebuilt the water pump on our 2GM...

The Yanmar Service center in Everett where I bought the kit advised me how to install the seal, and I'm trying to remember which way the seal went in. Mine slid right in. I think he said the open channel in the seal was the water side...I would contact a Yanmar Service Center to get it right. Terry
