Water Pump Overhaul

Hi All,
I had to overhaul my water pump after finding I had no water
circulation. Good thing I was at the dock. I pulled the pump off the
engine and took it home to rebuild. I opened the pump and found a
badly worn impeller and a rubber o-ring. The o-ring was on the shaft
between the back of the pump and the impeller. I see no reference to
the o-ring in the manual. Could anyone let me know if there is an o-
ring there or is it someone's attemped to avoid replacing the seal
at the back of the pump.

Many Thanks

Hi Paul

When you renovate the waterpump throw the O ring away. This is recommended by Volvo as it sometimes blocks the drain hole that shows you when the lip seals have worn. You need 2 off Oil Seals (1" x 0.5" x 0.25"). I hold them in stock if you cannot obtain them locally. One seal holds the oil in the engine and the other stops the water leaking from the pump.
