Our water pump cycles on when no faucet is open. This may occur 2-3 times during the night, which has led us to opening the water pump breaker before going to sleep. This spring we installed a new two gallon pressure tank. The pressure switch kicks the water pump on when there is about 1 gallon left in the tank. We have checked for leaks and can not find any. Admittedly, there could be a leak in a spot we cannot readily see, but no water is accumulating in the bilge. Any ideas?

Steve, Mine does that too. My guess is that water is leaking back from the high pressure side of the pump to the low pressure side back toward the tank especially if you do not see any faucet drips. Anyone else have a theory?

Cycling water pump

I had a cycling water pump in the 1988 H35 Legend. There were no leaks in the system. SO I changed out the water pump and the problem was immediately resolved. It seems that my old water pump may have had a faulty pressure switch!
