The instrument panel on my 1985 H28.5 with a 2GMF Yanmar includes a warning lamp (idiot light) that displays "Water proof." The Yanmar manual indicates this is a waterseal warning for saildrive equipped boats. My boat is not saildrive but this light comes on and the warning buzzer "chirps." I can't seem to find where the wire to this warning lamp ends - has anyone else experienced this or found that "Water Proof" warnings are meaningful for some other purpose?

Waterproof alarm

I have had that trouble too when purchasing my boat. I traced down the wires to find a new alternator was installed and the charge (alt)idiot/alarm was connected to the fourth light (waterproof). I moved it to the first position (charge). Everything is color coded and relatively easy to tract. Sometimes the wires change colors at connectors though. Also I do not have a sail-drive.
