Hi, we have a 1982 Catalina 38 and am looking for a water maker, any suggestions out there? Would like something dependable, low power usage and high volume, not asking for too much, right? Oh and reasonable in cost too. LOL My private e mail is Larrypi at linkline dot com if you would like to send me some information.

I recommend Spectra

We have a Spectra 400 on our 470. It has been very reliable with no trouble for over 350 hours of operation. That's over 5000 gallons of water.

As to price, all makers get more expensive when you ask for more gallons per hour. We chose a 400 gpd to allow us to fill our tanks when we charge our batteries. We can stay on the hook for almost 3 days before we need to recharge. Charging takes about 3 hours with the generator running and produces about 45 gallons of water.

I would also recommend you consider an auto flush feature on what ever brand you purchase. In a Spectra unit the system flushes itself every 120 hours. This takes about 4 gallons of water from the fresh water tanks. It eliminates the need for you to cycle the unit during the time you use it. I do pickle the unit during the winter when we don't use the unit.
