Water maker install on H38 - Any experiences?

Our biggest source of stress on our cruise last winter was fresh water. For some reason the wife likes to shower once a day and requires that I do once or twice a week (crazy, right?). To make our trip this year less stressful I'm looking at installing a water maker and have been looking at the Rain Man products.

I'm considering the 40gph 120v AC model over a 12vDC model. I have only 420AHr of house batteries and the DC model consumes 600W and is a much lower output unit, I don't think my solar can keep up with it for the duration it would need to run to fill the water tank. I do have a generator on board and can run it for 2 hours every 3 or 4 days to fill my water tank.

Has anyone installed one of these things on an H38 or very similar boat? One thing I'm concerned about is the physical size and location. Where to mount it? Will it fit easily anywhere?

How much noise do these things make?

How much water do you figure you need?

A Spectra Ventura 150 Deluxe while consuming 9 amps at 12 volts produces 6 gallons per hour. That would be 36 ampere hours to produce the 20 gallons per day that your numbers suggest.

How noisy are they? I understand the pumps can be quite noisy. I don't mind a couple hours every 4 days, but I don't want to have to listen to something for 4 hours a day.

That model is also twice the price of the Rain Man.
