Ah, the anchor locker to v-berth water issue. Here is what is happening.
From the factory, the boat is assembled in such a manner that the anchor locker is in physical contact with the hull liner and then the outer hull, at a point where the anchor locker drain goes. This joint is likely bedded with some compound, (not sure the factory procedure, but that is irrelevant) and then after assembly, the drain hole is drilled. Over time, with flexing due to normal use, the joint fails and the water can start leaking, usually at a gap in the old drilled hole, between the locker and the cockpit liner.
The fix is rather easy......
There are numerous ways to do this, but the basic idea is that you want to introduce a length of tubing through the old drilled hole, and bed it in in such a way that you totally fill the void between the tubing and the old drilled hole's walls, so that the water drains from the locker through the new tube, and not through the old hole.
For my boat, I used a length of ice-maker water supply line tubing, and some 3M 4000. Cut a length of tubing to about 3x what is necessary. Clean and lightly sand an area right around the inner locker drain opening to give a good clean mechanical bond for the sealant. Thread the tubing through the old drain hole until you know you are at the exterior of the drain, or barely through. Begin applying the sealant around the tube, pushing it down through the old drilled hole, working the sealant down in and around your new tube between it and the old hole's walls. Eventually, you will push enough tube through were you start seeing the globbing sealant-coated tube starting to come out the old drain's exterior hole. At that point, you can likely stop pushing tubing through. Examine the junction of the new tube, the sealant, and the old drilled drain hole up in the anchor locker and make sure you have a uniform bead of sealant all the way around the tube and completely sealing the old hole. Let this sit just like this for the recommended cure time of the sealant, and probably a little more, just for good measure. I sealed mine on a Sunday and came back the next weekend to finish.
After the sealant is cured, trim the excess tubing from the outside of the boat with a new razor blade knife, and then CAREFULLY trim off the excess tubing and any unwanted excess sealant up in the anchor locker. Be careful not to cut down so far that you cut into and possibly open up a path to the old drilled hole.
After completing this very simple project, you will probably find your v-berth is now dry. If not, you need to move on to re-bedding your life-line stanchions and your chain plates, but my hunch is that the fix I describe will take care of it.
Some have voiced concerns over my choice of ice-maker tubing; it is rather small. I do not disagree, but it works for me. If for your needs, you feel ice maker supply tubing is too small, consider drilling out the existing drain hole to a larger diameter, and then use a larger plastic tube that will restore the original drain size to the anchor locker. The application will be exactly the same.
Let us know and good luck!
