I have water between the hull & I don't know how to describe it maybe the fiberglass &"the hull Can anyone tell me how to get the water out.? I tried,to,put,a hose down the bow but the fiberglass does not have a hole. It's like their is a space between the fiberglass and the outer hull that I can't get to the water

Water in hull

A big sponge works well.
You see that is my problem I can't get at the water I wish I could describe it better but it looks like when the boat was built their is a large space between the outer hull and the inside shell of fiberglass, Like i said before. I put the bow almost on the ground & I can here the water move forward but I can't get at it. The same is true when when I tilt it back on the stern I here the water move back ( by the way I can tilt my boat down on the bow & tilt it back on the stern because I have a single axel trailer) Does anyone know if I could drill a hole in that fiberglass shell to get to the water without doing damage to the boat. I don't mean drilling the outer hull but the inter shell?

what year is the boat? and does it have a iron (heavy) keel? -ie, not waterballast 26.

AFAIK, the back of the boat on a 25 is the access to the bilge area. the PO may have put some board over that access. (I think one side is a quarter berth). the other is open (?)

I have a 1979 25' Venture made by MacGregor with a swing keel, & both sides i can squeeze to the stern. I guess I'll tilt the boat up again & see if I can get at the water from the stern. Thank-you for your reply

My boat is a '79 V25 also. When my boat is level, all the bilge water ( when there is some, my boat is very dry) collects in the center of the boat near the keel pivot (accessed through the hatch opening in the forward setee seat). I use a sponge to soak it up. You may have to still your arm in there as far forward as you can to get it all out.

Yes I know what you mean I have looked in their but the water I'm talking about is between the fiberglass and the outer hull and it's a lot so much, that it sounds like it would be a bucket or more

Does the liner extend into your V berth area? Is there access to the area under your V berth?

Yes It's like their are three layers of fiberglass 1. The outer hull 2. This inter fiberglass shell 3. The inter fiberglass shell that the seats and the forward V berth are all molded together.
So the water seems to be between #1& 2 & I have tried to put a hose down the bow & it won't get past this inter shell.

So, you have zero access to the hull from inside your boat, correct?

You may have to cut an access hole through the liner. Carefully.

That's right, and that's what I need to know, if I do cut a hole in that fiberglass will The i start a run in it so that the boat could be runined

By tilting the boat back the water will drain back and settle under the cockpit where you can mop it up or use a slurp gun to suck it out. West Marine has a nice hand bilge pump that I bought for the dink but used it in the Mac 25 bilge as well.
I had considered drilling a hole in the bottom of the transom an putting in a threaded plug so the hull could be drained when hauling out at the ramp (my old Hobe Cat had one in each pontoon.)
when the boat is level you can get to the bilge water through he battery compartment under the settee.
Make sure that you use a keel lock down bolt and rubber washers to seal the lock down holes when you sail. Also check the tubing that the keel cable runs through to make sure it does not leak.

Good luck.

Not sure what you mean, but try the tilt method again.

If you're careful, you likely won't ruin the boat with just a smallish 4-5 inch hole cut through the liner in an out of the way spot.

As I remember there was an access hole put in by the PO for the sounder transducer. It was on the threshold going into the head. It was about 3"s with a cover. It was just a plastic cove with no threads. I could access the transducer and drain the bilge from there,

A 1" OD used bilge hose taped to the nozzle of my wet vac worked for me to get into tight spots.

I used a sponge until I tried Wet Vac. Worked awesome. Same spot as Cuscus. Near keel bolt. Once vaced up reverse the hose and blow air in to dry out the space. I find that you need to reach under to get the the spot under the porta potti. A lot of water accumulated there.
I seem to have eliminated most water. It took about four years. Rub rail was the most frustrating. Chain plates, keel cable tube, lock bolt hole, bow eye. windows, cockpit drain.
I pounded through some tough stuff last weekend and I ended up surprisingly dry. Frustrating when the only storage on these boats is wet.
