To Someone Who Might Know: I have a 22 foot O'Day, and right now it is a work in progress, having a lot of fun cleaning it up, re-doing the wood, re-caulking, replacing old parts. etc. Actually I am enjoying it, and the weather is great for such a project. It's been in dry dock on a trailer for quite sometime and I intially pumped the water that was in the bottom of the stern compartments where the battery was stored. I've replace the metal flooring and I've been trying to paint the inside of the compartment, but every day I go out to work on the boat there is water back in the compartment! No rain, the boat is out of the water, but the back battery compartment keeps filling up with water. Now I noticed where the deck is attached to the hull the caulking is worn out, dried up and most of it missing. I am beginning to think water has seeped down through the space and the water that has been in the hull drains into the back compartment after I drain it each time. Now, I have re-caulked the joint space between the deck and the hull as well as the deck attachments. It will be interesting to see if water gathers in that compartment. By the way I removed some of the deck attachments and found just solid fiberglas under neath no wood, and I lost a nut beneath the deck as it fell into the hull, I was able to retrieve it, but I am not going to remove all of the deck hardware at the risk of loosing the nuts in the hull so I just clear caulked around each piece of harware.
