My head's filling up with water. I'm not sure if it's a flapper valve problem, or something more signifigant. Has anybody had this same experience? Any help would be appreciated.

Head Leak

Jay, I had the same situation with my 1989 Wilcox-Crittendon "headmate" model. Bought the rebuild kit, $50 from them. Spoke to their tech and that issue is primarily the joker valve.

Just water?

Jay, is it clear water, or backflow from the holding tank? I've had the latter problem with a Groco, but only after sailing in moderate seas (the more empty the holding tank, the more wave action needed). I replaced the joker and flapper valves with maybe slight improvement. The next suspect is typically the vent line. Mine appears to be unclogged. If you are certain you are pumping long enough, then what? After that, I guess we have to buy Peggy's book (available at the Chandelery)!

Joker valve

I'll start with the joker valve and work my way out, thanks.
