This our first year with our 1985 28.5 all summer I felt I had too much water in the bilge. The stuffing box is adjusted correct. I just had the boat hauled out for the winter.and the marina said I had about one and a half gallons of water in the rear locker. If the rudder seal was bad will it leak in the rar locker? There has been none in the big starbord locker any help? thanks Craig

Companionway?

I'm getting water in my aft cabin, and in the bilge too, come to think of it. I'm thinking it could be coming from the companionway, and I'm ordering a cover, TODAY. Another post advised me to check the window in the head. Also, could be a leak from topsides, which opens a whole realm of possibilities which I'm trying not to think about, so I'll try the cover first. Will post my results. Scott S/V Hello Dolly

Check the rubber hose for leaks

I had a similar problem on my H31 and found that there was a small slit in the aft rubber hose (raw water). When the engine ran the water leaked through into the aft cabin. Fixed it with some hose binding tape approx $5.00
