Water in lower engine housing

Not sure how to explain this, when I started my engine tonight to get it ready I noticed that the lower engine housing started filling with water.

The engine seems to run fine, the oil doesn't have water in it near as i can tell. No foam.

I'm pretty sure something is wrong I'm thinking water pump, but I'm not familiar with these types of things at all. Although I have fixed pumps and such on car engines.

Anyone know what this is and how to go about fixing it also what kind of skill level is this... ?

Are you referring to the lower unit or the engine itself under the removable cover? If it's under the cover , the tube to the pee exit hole may have come loose.

more info

The tube still spits out water, it seems to come out from the base where the engine connects the cowling.

The oil isn't milky nor do I see any bubbles on the dip stick. It's a 15 HP honda 4 stroke.

More info: I'm not familiar with Hondas but I imagine they're the same as others in respect to the cooling operation. That, rubber?, tube in back of your engine should be hooked up tight to two connections, one from the engine and water pump, the other to a fitting that may look like an open grease fitting that directs the water from the tube out the lower side of the engine so you can see the stream from inside the boat. This fitting is located through the metal your cover seals to. That stream tells you eveything is OK with your cooling. When that stream stops you run the risk of overheating. My thought was that that tube may have become disengaged from one of the fittings and the water was being pumped directly into the lower part of your engine housing or maybe the hose has a cut in it, same effect.

New Engine 6 HP tohatsu

Looks like I'm getting a new engine. An $800 repair job on a 92 Honda that has done the .. crap forgot what it's called... down the miss, around florida up the east coast down the miss again.... trip. Plus 10 + lake years after that.

Down grading from a 15 HP honda to a 6 HP tohatsu.....

a hole in the water to throw money....

The honda's impeller blew apart and cracked a housing down low in the cowl assembly.

The great loop? Yeah, it sounds like time for a motor with fewer miles. I'm very happy with my Tohatsu.

I had a problem with the water pump tube 'riser' that lifts the water from the pump lower unit to the head. there is a small rubber fitting that connect the rigid tube to the head and it cracked.

your description sould like the pump is working but not pushing full volume to the 'pee tube' this was my problem, the pump worked but it spitted water out the tube. had to take apart the lower unit and reach way up the case to replace that rubber part.

-did you replace the impeller lately? thats when they typically break.

but if you did the loop, you probably have a lot of hours on that motor...

I didn't loop

That sounds like the area it's leaking but I think it's cracked right above that. Weird thing is it's still peeing. Really weird thing is I'm not sure how long I ran it like that, since it peed I really didn't go looking for problems with the cover off.

The PO did the Loop. I'd love to, sounds like no cell service.

Guess I can tear that old engine apart now and not worry about ruining it, who knows I might get lucky.
