You have described water coming from a topside source. For any boat, always make sure it is tilted horizontially as water can collect in a corner and seep in. If that is not the case, then it will generally be a fitting and what you will need to do is take a hose and hose down all fittings in that area. Helps to have a friend and flashlight.
If you cannot find the leak, the old adage is to pressurize the cabin with a leaf blower and brush every fitting with very soapy water and where you see air bubbles, then you will need to recaulk. You will have to tape up all openings and in the companionway, tape a large piece of plastic over it, put a small slit in it, insert leaf blower , tape plastic around leaf blower and start it. Air has to escape.
