91 Catalina 30 MK II--
My hot water heater has a SHURflo strainer (ar least I think it;s a I think) between the freshwater pump and the cold entry port on the heater. The strainer is connected to the Seaward 600 heater by a 1/2" double female fitting with some kind of internal reducing mechanisn. It is a grey octagional piece that connects directly to the cold entry port and is made of some kind of plastic or synthetic.
So this grey piece has developed a crack and a subsequent leak. No one that I have taken it to has ever seen anything like this connector and so my question is... are the filter and fitting necessary and, if so, does anyone know where I can find a replacement or should I try to seal it with a spot of epoxy? I don't see any mention of it in my manuals or specs so I don't know whether this is origional equiptment or something that one of the previous owners installed
