The pressure relief valve on the domestic water heater of my 1985 Hunter 31 is leaking seriously through the faucet occasionally. Is there anyway to tell if there is too much pressure, too high a temperature, or a faulty valve? How does one lower the temperature setting?

Thanks

The pressure relief valve has failed

You should be able to find an identical replacement for about $10 at any hardware store or plumbing supply.

Peggy is right those are really easy to come by. Question: does it leak when heating on 110V only, or does it leak also when heating with the engine running? If on 110V only, then it probably is the electric temp control .. again, those can be had at appliance parts places.. Some can be adjusted lower.
